Also the rate of relapse with Accutane is quite high.

How long between AviClear® treatments?

AviClear® is typically 3 treatments over 3 months. However, if that timeline does not work for your schedule, going longer between treatments will not negatively impact your results.

Can you use AviClear® to spot treat individual breakouts?

It is recommended that when doing AviClear® you always evenly treat the entire area rather than only treating current acne spots. The reason for this is that once you disrupt the oil production in one specific spot, it could trigger adjacent areas to start over-producing. By evenly treating the entire area, we are not only correcting current breakouts, but preventing future breakouts too.

Can you do AviClear® laser acne treatment over the summer?

Yes! AviClear® does not make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so there is no issue getting your treatment during the summer when it is hot and sunny and you're spending a lot of time outdoors.

Who is a candidate for AviClear® acne treatment?

Who is NOT a good candidate for AviClear® treatments?

Is AviClear® safe for all skin types and tones?

Can you do AviClear® even if you're on other acne medications? For example, isotretinoin, doxycycline, spironolactone, retinoids, etc.

Yes, there is no issue at all with being on other acne medications — and you won’t need them for much longer :-) Unlike some other lasers, AviClear® is not contraindicated with photosensitizing medications.

Should teenagers get AviClear®? Won't they eventually grow out of their acne?

Treating acne early is important, regardless of age, for both physical and psychological reasons. How to prepare for your AviClear® treatment

Set aside 30-40 minutes for your AviClear® treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure and self tanners in the treatment area for a week leading up to your appointment. The morning of your treatment, shave any dense hair growth in the area to be treated. Skip other laser and skin treatments for a couple weeks leading up to your appointment. What are the steps involved in an AviClear® treatment?

During your AviClear® treatment session, we will guide you through every step of the process.

We start off with a deep cleanse, to prep the skin and remove any products that you may have applied. Next, we apply a secondary medical-grade cleanser to further degrease the skin so the laser can penetrate optimally.

We will then apply the AviClear® laser evenly across the treatment area, continuously hydrating the skin for optimal comfort. The entire process takes around 30 minutes.

After the laser, we finish up by applying a nourishing moisturizer with protective sunscreen.

Is AviClear® painful? What does an AviClear® treatment feel like?

Overall, AviClear® is not a painful treatment although there can be some mild discomfort. AviClear® uses skin cooling technology to numb the skin during treatment. You may notice a cold sensation followed by a slight prickle on your skin. If you are concerned about discomfort, you can simply take ibuprofen or acetaminophen prior to treatment.

Can you use topical numbing cream or gel?

Topical numbing products of any kind cannot be used as they may interfere with the efficacy of the AviClear® treatment. If you are concerned about discomfort, you can simply take ibuprofen or acetaminophen prior to treatment.

Is there any downtime after an AviClear® treatment?

Nope, there's no need to put your life on hold! You can expect some mild redness after each AviClear® session and a small percentage of clients may notice a breakout 1-2 weeks post treatment as the laser works under the skin. However, these are temporary and worth the long-term clearance achieved. You can expect a quick recovery with minimal disruption to your daily schedule.

Can I exercise after an AviClear® treatment?

Absolutely! The AviClear® laser technology is incredibly gentle by design, so you can feel free to carry on with your usual exercise routine the very same day.

What does aftercare look like?

Aftercare is very simple and really just amounts to basic skin hygiene along with a few in-house secrets :-) After your treatment we will review our instructions, provide a written copy for your reference, and gift you some useful prescription-grade products.
